Welcome to the farm.
This is a gathering of various resources related to homesteading, gardening, homeschool resources, recipes, chicken tending, printables, virtual classes, and public domain ebooks and audiobooks on a variety of subjects. It’s a smorgasbord in here!

The Enchanting Journey of the Homeschool Family
Homeschooling has offered us a kind of freedom I never expected.
Homesteading Resources
Gardening tips, schedules, and practices
We are in USDA Zone 8a. By default, all dates, notes, and suggestions are for this zone, however I am working on developing schedules for other zones as well.
Landscaping, garden design & sculpture, habitat management
I usually have multiple projects going on at any one time. I try to be consistent about documenting with pictures.
Habitat Preferences
North Carolina has many diverse ecological niches. Learn to thrive in open woodlands, wetlands, and other intercoastal ecosystems, and the native plants that showcase resilience and adaptability.
Ecological Importance
We focus on being a part of the ecosystem. We do our best to support pollinators like bees and butterflies, delicate amphibians like frogs and toads, all while contributing to the health of local biodiversity.
The Role of Swamp Fox Farm in the Ecosystem
Located in northeastern NC, Swamp Fox Farm celebrates the history, natural resources, and opportunities provided in this region.
“Swamp Fox” is a nod towards Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion, who used the swampy terrain of South Carolina to wage guerilla-style attacks on the British.
Kat is the descendent of multiple Revolutionary War ancestors, and her family has lived in this area since they moved south from Jamestown in the 1600’s.
Kat has spent many years in the corporate world where she’s gathered a variety of technical skills – now she’s returning to the land and focusing on her family.
